Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) has proven to be an effective treatment for a range of psychological and psychiatric conditions. Recent years have seen an exponential increase of interest in, and demand for, CBT as one of several evidence-based approaches to mental health care. There is a considerable demand for specialist training in this area, and continuing professional development activities involving CBT are likely to provide a firm basis for professional advancement. Our Programmes are designed to meet this need and will equip you with the knowledge and skills that are necessary for becoming a highly effective cognitive behavioural therapist in today’s rapidly changing workplace.
Why Choose our Courses?
Our Programmes, all of which are academically validated by Royal Holloway, University of London, offer a range of benefits.
Our Post Graduate Diploma has been accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies at Level 2. This means that on completion of our Programme, individuals will have received the training required to fulfil the BABCP’s Minimum Training Standards.
We have a proven track record of providing quality training and you will be trained by a highly committed, well-qualified team of lecturers and supervisors.
Our Course Staff Team and visiting lecturers include both local CBT experts as well as a number of internationally recognised leaders in the field. This ensures that students have access to trainers who are at the cutting edge of developments in theory and research, as well as supervisors and trainers who understand the challenges of providing optimally effective CBT in health and social care settings.
Supervision is provided as an integral component of the Programmes. All members of our Course Staff Team are accredited therapists with the British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), so you can be sure that you are receiving high quality supervision that is also consistent with the requirements specified by BABCP. The BABCP has recently introduced a process of accreditation for supervisors and trainers and Course Staff are either already accredited or actively working towards this.
Our Programmes are designed to help you achieve the necessary knowledge, skills and competences for practising CBT in the current health care climate, as well as enabling you to work towards formal accreditation with the BABCP. Many of our students have used our Programmes to achieve promotions, secure positions in specialist services and take up research posts.
Who are our Students?
All of our Programmes are occupationally focused and have a strong, multidisciplinary emphasis. Our current cohorts include nurses, occupational therapists, clinical psychologists, counsellors and psychiatrists which creates a rich educational environment with opportunities for interdisciplinary learning.
